Rejuvenating WD5KCA Part 3

Mission Accomplished

It was raining this morning but it quit early enough that it got sufficiently dry to finish the project.  I got the cable in, caulked up the hole in the wall and hooked it up.  It tuned up nicely on all bands and I made a couple of quick contacts (PA and CA).  WD5KCA is back in business.

WD5KCAThe microphone is a replica of the renowned RCA 74B made by Heil Sound.  Back in my college days I had a buddy that was real proud to have the same guitar that Dicky Betts played. Well, I have the same mic that Joe Walsh uses for ham radio.  How about that!

3-500Z

Nope, not a flux capacitor, it’s a 3-500Z tube.  This one is about 25 years old and still pumping electrons.  These tubes used to be made in the good ol’ USA but nowadays they come from Russia and China.
