Mr. Snyder’s Neighborhood: Revisited 2022

Well, Ok fine. Here I am with the Mr. Snyder’s Neighborhood update for 2022. As you may recall, my last look into this was back in 2013. Wow! That was about 9 years ago. It seems like only nine years ago.

Clearly, I have been negligent by ignoring this important topic for so long.

Here is the entry to our subdivision. Winchester Meadows…One hell of a place. But I have not found a meadow yet. Maybe it was a meadow back in olden times.

Being a modern and totally up to date community, we have camera surveillance to scrutinize your entry to the magical kingdom. Smile.

How about a look at some of our cool landscaping? I love the wall. Nice rocks.

Across the street we have a convenient strip of businesses. Let’s check them out.

Let’s look from left to right.

Jaime’s Upholstery-Drapes: This shop lasted maybe 6-7 years. It never appeared to do much business. It seems that people throw their stuff out rather than fixing up with re-upholstering. I remember when I was a youngster that we had a couch re-upholstered. Looked good as new when it came back but the comfort was not so nice.

Best Cleaners: Best Cleaners has been here a long time. A long time is maybe 20 years. I disagree that they are the best cleaners. They are pretty good but not best by any means. They are very good at breaking buttons on my shirts and then charging me to fix them. I gave up and took my business down the street to another cleaners (they do not claim to be “best”, but they don’t break my shirt buttons).

Foot Rest: Well, what else can I say about this? I am 99.972% certain that this joint is one of those “naughty” massage parlors.

My car is the dirty black Ford Fusion Sport on the left.

Let’s continue from left to right.

The Top Dawgz Pet Groomers: I have been taking our pooch, Beth, here regularly since before Covid hit. They are very nice folks, kind to the beasts, and do a great job for a fair price. I highly recommend them. Here is a link to their web site.

UT Latino Services: This business has also been here quite a while. The signs in the window are all written in Spanish. From what I can tell is they help out with immigration services, car insurance, and taxes. Nice combination if you need it.

Mr. Smoke: O’l Smokee has been here about a year. I have not been inside or looked in the window but inferred from their signs they sell the usual stuff as similar modern business enterprises. CBD? You know about that. It’s pot without the “good stuff”. Kratom? I had never heard of Kratom before today (sheltered life I suppose). I went to Google to find out what it is. Beware! This is very bad shite.

Barber Pad: According to their sign they have been here since 2020. I have no reason to dispute that. This is a African-American focused business. There are a lot of Black oriented barber shops around Houston. It seems to be mostly dead during the week but today, a beautiful Saturday morning, there are a lot of folks hanging out. This includes some youngsters. I think I will drop by when I need my next haircut.

Lannie Nails: It’s off to the right and cut off in the photo. That is about all it deserves. I have never seen any business going on here. I am surprised it is lingering on at this location. There are some nail joints up the street west of here that do a thriving business.

So, there you have it.

Mr. Snyder’s Neighborhood revisited for 2022. I should not let this thing rest for 10 years again.
